Important Montana Medicaid Update

Montana DPHHS has announced Medicaid changes that may affect some Medicaid Expansion members. Some adults ages 19–64 may need to meet a monthly community engagement requirement unless they qualify for an exclusion. The requirement is 80 hours each month (about 20 hours per week) through approved activities such as work, volunteering with a not-for-profit organization, approved workforce training or job readiness, an internship or apprenticeship, school at least half-time, or a combination of qualifying activities.

Some people may qualify for exclusions or short-term hardships. Members should read notices from DPHHS, keep their contact information updated, and review the official Montana DPHHS Medicaid Changes page.

Medicaid / TSS Basics

Eligibility Snapshot

Tenancy Support Services are Medicaid-funded services for eligible Montana Medicaid members. Medicaid enrollment must be confirmed before a TSS referral can be processed. Eligibility is determined through the referral and assessment process.

Who may qualify

  • Adults 18 years of age or older
  • Enrolled in Montana Medicaid
  • Have a qualifying substance use disorder and/or serious mental illness, or symptoms that may require further assessment
  • Are experiencing homelessness, have a history of homelessness, or are at risk of housing instability
  • Need housing-related support connected to tenancy stability

Alex Sanchez Jr. is the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Anchor Support Service LLC. His work is rooted in housing stability, practical service coordination, and helping people navigate systems with dignity, clarity, and follow-through.

Alex brings experience across housing-related systems, affordable housing operations, tenant relations, coordinated referrals, community resource navigation, fund administration, and nonprofit collaboration.

Before founding Anchor Support Service, Alex worked in roles connected to affordable housing, HUD and LIHTC compliance, 211 information and referral services, housing fund coordination, provider communication, documentation review, and community partnership support. These experiences shaped his understanding of how housing stability depends on clear communication, accurate paperwork, respectful follow-up, and practical next steps.

Anchor Support Service was created to provide organized, person-centered support for adults navigating housing-related barriers. Alex’s leadership focuses on building a responsive provider model that is professional, careful with documentation, grounded in local systems, and centered on the dignity and goals of each person served.
